This is actually Matt’s first season in triathlon but after many months of training over the winter he was all set for his first race. Southwell Sprint Triathlon, however in April Matt was knocked off his bike from a car pulling out on him doing nearly 30mph he broke his collar bone and the rest of the season looked miserable. The doctors said it would be at least 6 weeks before he was out the sling but after just 5 and a half he was back out on the bike training. Having missed three races so far two of which were World Championship qualifiers he was determined to race the fourth. On the 5th of June Matt travelled all the way to Northumbria for the QE2 Sprint Tri which was the third and final qualifying event for Beijing.
